Gredish awoke that with excitement in heart as he had thought of a name for the child the night before. Walking out of his bedchambers Gredish awoke the young boy and told him that he had good news. As with any child he got excited in the prospect of a surprise. Gredish took him to one side and sat him down on the worn chair in the corner of the house.

Sun was streaming in through the kitchen window, with the birds singing the new day in. Gredish knelt down if front of the child and placed his leathery hands upon the tiny frail shoulders of the boy.

"Boy, I was think it over last night before I went to sleep. And I have chosen a name for you."

The boy's look was one of ecstasy. He was nearly five years old now and he was admittedly getting a little annoyed with having to be called 'boy' all the time. Looking into the face of the man who he had raised him. And the only farther that he knew.

"Well boy, I thought I of this last night so what do you think about the name, Bastianmre?"

"Well… Umm… Bastianmre? I really don't know about that farther. I'm sure it is a nice name but I don't think that it really suites me. I thought I would be more of a Jakæl."

"What? You don't like it? Well I thought it was a manly name, a proud name. You know you are a real bane, you know that don't you?"

"What was that farther? Bane? Hmm I like that. Can I be called that from now on?"

Gredish didn't know about calling the boy Bane, bit the look in his eyes was a bit too much to bear for Gredish. This little boy with his heart in his eyes, pleading to have a name that he liked.

"Well. If you want to be called Bane I suppose that you can be called Bane then. You do realise that it means trouble?"

"Yes farther I do realise."

And with a big grin on his face bane ran out the dor to tell his few friends his new name. As he was running out the door Bane called back to Gredish,

"Of course I know what Bane means, and I plan to live up to my name!"

Gredish stood in the doorway watching the boy running down the street to play with his friends and tell them the exciting news.

"I bet you will, I bet you will."

Gredish chuckled to him self as he turned and went back to sit in the streaming warmth of sun through his kitchen window.
